We made it to 2021! January is the month of new beginnings. We start to dream about what’s possible for the upcoming year.
Imagining new possibilities is a fun game you can play with your child. It’s a fun way to get them thinking bigger ideas about the great things they can do someday.
Imagine…what it’s like to climb a mountain.
Imagine…riding a bike down a really huge hill.
Imagine…being a fire fighter.
Imagine…working with animals at the zoo.
Imagine if….you were a tiny bug for a day.
Imagine if…you got to fly to the moon.
Imagine if…
You are giving your child the gift of imagining new ideas, creative and divergent thinking.
Now I am an educator and a mama. Our primary goals get caught up in health/safety, cognitive skills (shape/color recognition), encouraging appropriate social skills and manners, basic literacy and math skills. There is a lot of emphasis on these important skills however creative power actually increases a child’s intellectual development and in depth learning.
Their ideas may be far fetched, but that’s great! Let them dream! They are thinking about big concepts and this is an important step in building knowledge in other areas like art, math and science.
This game may seem small, but it’s helping your child make sense of the world. What a gift.
